Council vacancies

Volunteering as a Trustee on the RSB Council is one of the best ways to help influence how the Royal Society of Biology delivers its charitable aims and acts as a unified voice for biology. This year there are three vacancies on Council, two open to individual members and one to Member Organisations. To stand as a Trustee of the RSB you must be nominated by your peers.

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee please read through the role description. A full list of current Trustees is also available.

The Royal Society of Biology is committed to ensuring equal opportunities in the life sciences and supports diversity in all areas of work. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and skillsets and recognise that a diverse RSB Council is best placed to deliver on our charitable aims and objectives.

Becoming a Trustee if you're an individual member:

  • This year there are two vacancies available to our individual members
  • Members at MRSB or FRSB grades are eligible to stand as Trustees on the RSB Council
  • You need to be formally nominated by another member, and have support from a further five members, all at MRSB or FRSB grade
  • The nomination form has further details on how to submit the application.

Becoming a Trustee as a Member Organisation representative:

  • This year there is one vacancy available to RSB Member Organisations at Full Member level
  • Organisations can nominate a representative who must be a member of that organisation, and need to have support from two other Full Member Organisations
  • The nomination form has further details on how to submit the application.

The deadline for nominations is 10:00 on Wednesday 10 March 2021. In the event that more nominations are received than we have vacancies, an election will be held. Nominees will be made aware of the outcome of any election ahead of the Society's AGM, where the results of the nominations and possible elections will be publicly announced.
