Welcome to the Royal Society of Biology’s website to support the use of Open Education Resources (OER) by the bioscience community.
This project has been supported by the Higher Education Academy and JISC to identify, collect and promote bioscience OER. Read full details of the project and our outputs.
This collection of OER aims to support teaching practical biology in Higher Education, and the resources featured on the site include lab and field work protocols, data handling exercises, videos of techniques and multimedia alternatives to wet lab work. Our panel of HE teaching practitioners have peer reviewed all the resources featured, and provide a short description of each resource and how it could be used.
Our focus has been on resources that aid teaching practical biology, but there is a wider range of bioscience OER available across multiple collections, repositories and websites. For a list of further sites where bioscience OER may be hosted, please visit the OER Collections section of the website. This page also features links to guidance on creating and releasing your own materials as OER.
To keep this website up to date and useful, we will be adding new resources as they are released. If you are creating new resources, or know of a great resource that we have missed, then please let us know via the submit a resource section of the site.
This project was a part of the HEA/ JISC managed UKOER programme, funded under the Phase 3 Strand 4a; Promoting OER within PSRBs and Subject Associations
